Mention code 6603820 | | Intrepid Travel | | | | Day | Destination | Description | | Day 1 | Kathmandu | An excellent launching point for the adventure ahead, vibrant and eclectic Kathmandu is rich in artistic and cultural heritage and full of fascinating sights. | | Days 2-13 | Everest Base Camp | Locally known as Sagarmatha, Everest is the ultimate goal for mountaineers from all over the world. This is an amazing opportunity to follow in their footsteps and reach Base Camp. Surrounded by some of the most breathtaking mountain scenery in the world and resting overnight in local teahouses, explore the diversity of Himalayan traditions and religion and gain insight into the world-famous Sherpa culture. Following a remote mountain path, cross glaciers, traverse valleys, climb high passes to isolated monasteries and ultimately ascend to the foot of Mt Everest. This is no walk in the park, but certainly the opportunity of a lifetime. | | Days 14-16 | Kathmandu | The flight from Lukla back to the capital is short and rewarding, with great views back across our conquered Himalayan slopes. Soak up more of Kathmandu's atmosphere with a spot of shopping among the network of street markets. | | Day 17 | Bandipur | Stroll through Bandipur to catch a glimpse of the next challenge. | | Days 18-34 | Annapurna Circuit | See waterfalls of melted snow, cross icy rivers and traverse broad plains as you trek the Annapurna Circuit. Visually superb, this route is also culturally rich. Discover traditional mountain communities, isolated monasteries and temples and friendly locals herding yaks on grassy plains. Trekking at such high altitude, for example crossing Thorung Pass at 5,416 m, is incredibly difficult but the mountain scenery, encouraging guide and odd dip in natural hot springs will keep you going. | | Day 35 | Pokhara | Rest weary limbs in one of Pokhara's lovely lakeside cafes. | | Days 36-37 | Kathmandu | Back in the capital, there is time to continue sightseeing or find a market with Nepali specialties to bag a souvenir. |
